READ ACROSS AMERICA 2008

Again this year, weather impacted this event.  If you remember, last year we dismissed from RAA due to tornado warnings being issued for the area.  This year's event was impacted as well due to the severe tornado that moved across the county in February.  Lots of planning goes into RAA and being out of school with the storms caused Parent/Teacher conference and RAA to be scheduled back to back.  So, even though the turn out was down this year, everyone who came seemed to have a great time celebrating the love of READING!!!  If you missed this year's event, we hope to see you next year at RAA 2009!!!

Scott Couch, News anchor for Fox17 News, visits Westside Elem.

Mr. Jones, Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Marshall share new technology with RAA guests about
how teachers at Westside are using the latest technology, a Smartboard, to teach all subjects, including Reading, to students.

Another session at RAA allowed guests to visit the school computer lab and spend time at Seussville.com!  Mr. Goolsby, Mrs. Cochran and Mrs. Carnahan led the session!!

Mrs. Donna and Mr. Griggs share a story, My Lucky Day, during the Reader's session.  This great book was just one of several read aloud to guests at RAA!!!

The Pre-K class kicked off the RAA closing session this year by learning and then leading the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.
